OnePlus Nord 2 might arrive in Q2 2021
OnePlus is currently preparing for the launch of its flagship OnePlus 9 series. And this flagship series is very important to OnePlus. But, there is no denying the fact that in markets like India, it’s the Nord series that will sell more than the flagships. And OnePlus knows that. Rumours suggest that OnePlus is planning to launch the Nord 2 as early as Q2 of this year. And it’s specifications might surprise you.
Nord 2’s specifications
According to Android Authority, OnePlus Nord 2 will come equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 1200 CPU. The reason why it is so surprising is because OnePlus has never before used a chipset that was not manufactured by Qualcomm. OnePlus Nord 2 will become the first-ever OnePlus to have a Mediatek Chipset.
Now, what will also be interesting to observe is the price tag this phone will come with. MediaTek claims that Dimensity 1200 is a flagship-grade chipset. But Nord is OnePlus’ mid-range series. And also after the launch of the OnePlus 9, OnePlus would prefer to have a cheaper option in their portfolio.
Mediatek Dimensity 1200 Specifications
This processor is the latest chipset from MediaTek and it has been designed on a 6nm platform. It clocks at an amazing 3GHz rate with its Cortex A-78 ultra-core. Apart from that, there are three more Cortex A-78 super cores which clock at 2.6 GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores that clock at 2.0GHz.
Apart from this, it also offers some high-end features such as support of up to a 200MP camera, ray-tracing for mobile games, and support for up to 168Hz of screen refresh rate. It can also support 5G connectivity for dual SIM. So, if OnePlus launches Nord 2 at a mid-range price, it would be quite a feature-loaded phone for that segment.
