Instagram’s app is unveiling a new update called Recently Deleted, which will allow users to recover deleted posts. As one of the most awaited features, this functionality helps users recover content removed for up to 30 days.
The Recently Deleted feature can be reached via the settings menu in the Instagram app. This extends to all content, including photos, audio, IGTV videos, and reels. Notably, users can still restore stories with the recently deleted function, but they will only stay in the folder for 24 hours.
Instagram App Recently Deleted Feature
When unveiling the Recently Deleted Feature, Instagram revealed that it has stepped up the security mechanism to keep hackers from manipulating accounts.
The recent blog post of Instagram states that the feature is something users have been calling for. They detail how Instagram’s recently deleted feature, when posts, pictures, reels, stories, and IGTV videos are deleted, will be removed from the site immediately. These deleted contents will be preserved in the recently deleted archive, which can be checked and restored by users within 30 days. If users do not recover deleted content for 30 days, it will be deleted automatically.
On the other hand, Instagram Stories can be checked for up to 24 hours. Users can access the deleted content by pressing Settings-> Account-> Recently Deleted on the latest app iteration. Users can either recover or permanently remove the same deleted content from this folder. If the post is revived, the contents will appear again on the Instagram profile. If it has been removed from the files, the contents will be returned to the archives again.
In addition to the Recently Deleted feature, Instagram also announced security to deter hackers from manipulating posts. The company also states that account holders will have to search before they permanently remove or recover the contents from the recently deleted folder.
